Review: Reservations of the Heart

Reservations of the Heart Reservations of the Heart by T.B. Markinson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Great book that won't disappoint. The characters, plot, and writing are awesome. The main characters were written realistically. Nothing was easy for these women who found communication a necessity. Stella's sister is one I wish I had in my corner and I'm sure we know people like Becky. The coworkers in the hospital seemed almost comically well done.

Review: Conflict of Interest

Conflict of Interest Conflict of Interest by Jae
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jae wrote an exceptional novel of two stubborn souls that can't help but make way to your heart. It's a non-stop read from start to finish. This author did not take the easy route but instead wrote a book that rocked my world.

Review: A Celtic Knot

A Celtic Knot A Celtic Knot by Ana Corman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Great story about two women who each have lost love in the past and are now on track to fin it again if they can just have faith. I enjoyed the read, but it did get a little mushy towards the end. I would have liked to know more about Ruth and Dana, too.

Uprising Uprising by Fletcher DeLancey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am in mourning. There are no more in this series for me to enjoy. This author did a powerful job of creating a world/universe of people to fall in love with and appreciate. I have enjoyed reading this series of powerful women, empathic people, and a caring world for the past couple of months. I impressed with the character development and plot expansion. Bravo.

The Caphenon The Caphenon by Fletcher DeLancey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have read the first three of this series and am taking a break before the next three. I have become so immersed in the stories I forgot on which planet I was living! The characters are well developed and the storylines are quite engaging. I am not usually into sci-fi, but this has been page-turning.

Softball, construction, and a hospital team equals romance
I choose Radclyffe as a go-to for something I know I will enjoy. This book was part of a series I had not read and didn't need to in order to appreciate the book. Feisty hospital admin meets closed off and hurt construction worker. No secrets in the Rivers community. Good fun Romance.

Review: Tomb of the Unknown Racist

Tomb of the Unknown Racist Tomb of the Unknown Racist by Blanche McCrary Boyd
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Free book received. This was in a genre for Lesbian general fiction. I do not think it was the correct category. The main character is flawed, which is fine, but almost too flawed. I understood the historical aspects of racism and the sects that were involved in the OK bombing. Not my cup of tea. Writing was good. Plot left something to be desired.

The Hidden One The Hidden One by T.B. Markinson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

T.B. Markinson has done it, again. Ains and her crew are together again and this time in a mock election. Patience is being tested. How much can they take?
The author does a great job of creating a plot that keeps the reader going well past her bedtime. Great characters and storyline. The sex scenes were longer then I would have preferred. I like more left to my imagination. I look forward to the next book.

Great story, well written, that kept me reading well past my bedtime. The characters were well developed with the two main women having a yin and yang relationship. I loved A Family Woman by T.B. Markinson. This was the next book in the series that I have been enjoying. The characters are great and I love Lizzie, although I think she gets picked upon a bit. I cannot wait to see the next in the series. Lizzie's character is one that I empathize with as my daughter does not get a lot of idioms. Sara and Lizzie do quite well together. I am looking forward to seeing how Lizzie handles teaching.

Review: Confessions from the Heart

Confessions from the Heart Confessions from the Heart by T.B. Markinson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Great book. I had read the previous books in this series and it was good to see how it all began. Character development was awesome. Of course, Cori’s Mother and Aunt are always great for laughs. I love the line where Kat keeps Cori’s clothes to keep her from running. The philosophical debates between characters help to deepen understanding. Kat’s character is strong yets shows her vulnerabilities with her Art and Family.
I highly recommend this book and the others in the series. Get to know Kat and Cori.

GCLS 2018 Conference

The GCLS 2018 Conference is in Las Vegas, July 4-8. The event brings together readers, fans, writers, editors, and publishers to celebrate the best in lesbian literature. I will be there. For those of you unfamiliar with the Golden Crown Literary Society, it's a great way to meet others interested in lesbian literature. Every year, the conference rotates. The con was in Portland, OR in 2014, New Orleans in 2015, Washington DC in 2016, and Chicago in 2017. The speakers and writing seminars are outstanding. GCLS info is at http://www.goldencrown.org/

I look forward to seeing and meeting many of the authors that have given me so much reading pleasure and made an impact on my life.

In the Distance There Is Light In the Distance There Is Light by Harper Bliss
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am so glad I bought and read this book. I wasn't sure about the topic, but the author did a fantastic job. I appreciated the way she dealt with death and how the main characters each had a way of coping. The relationship between the two main characters while might be seen as taboo or certainly unique, was portrayed in a loving caring manner that had me rooting for them.
I recommend this book highly.

Review: Tail Gait: Rita Mae Brown

I have been a fan of this author for some time. I have also been a little disappointed with recent works due to lecturing by the author in the novel...till now.

Rita Mae Brown came through with a winner. Not only do we get a great mystery, learn more of the characters (Pastor and Susan), but learn of our own nations history. So much did the historical aspects tough me that I immediately, upon finishing the book, went online to search out, Camp Security. I then continued to share this information with my daughter. She endured my enthusiasm.

Thank you to the author to not only providing a good read but well accepted lesson in history.

Lesbian Connection magazine!

Hello from Margy at Lesbian Connection magazine!

I’m trying to get the word out to lesbians everywhere about our FREE magazine.
In case you haven’t heard of LC before, or if you just lost touch with us, here’s some info:

Lesbian Connection is the free worldwide forum of news, ideas and information for, by
and about lesbians.  We’ve been publishing since 1974, and we mail issues out every other
month in plain brown envelopes (the word “lesbian” doesn’t appear anywhere on the outside).

This magazine is a grassroots forum, which means it’s truly written by our readers.  On its
pages you’ll find info for lesbians on places to live and where to travel, lesbian B&Bs and guesthouses, websites, cruises, festivals, conferences, lesbian land and retirement communities, products (books, CDs, DVDs, etc.), campgrounds and retreats, lesbian lawyers and realtors,
as well as the comic strip “Dykes to Watch Out For” and much more.  There are also reviews, articles, letters and topics dealing with whatever issues LC’s readers are talking about, from health issues and politics to relationships and pets.

So, if you’re a lesbian and you’d like to start receiving LC, all you need to do is email us (LC@LConline.org) your full name and complete (snail mail) mailing address and we’ll be
happy to add you to our list.  (By the way, our mailing list is totally confidential; we will never
sell, loan or share it with anyone else.)  We’d also like to know where you heard about us.
In case you’re wondering, LC survives on the donations we receive from our readers.  However, contributions are voluntary and subscriptions really are free to all lesbians.  Our goal is, quite
simply, to connect the lesbian community worldwide.

There is a difference, apparently, between mixing cookie dough in a mixer vs. by hand. By hand you get the possibility the cookies will turn out flatter as you did not mix in everything well enough. Sigh.
