Review: One Golden Summer

One Golden Summer One Golden Summer by Clare Lydon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I very much enjoyed this story of two women learning to trust themselves and each other in a cozy seaside village. The main and sub characters were developed well, and I can see future books showing what the characters are up to now. The authors did a great job of showing the reader the village and its inhabitants. I was able to picture myself sipping a pint in the pub by the sea and watching the waves roll in. The situations that arose were not simplistic but had reason and follow through. This was a great book that I could not put down. Well done scenes. Highly recommend this duo of writers. The book has lingered in my thoughts.

Review: Darkness Falls

Darkness Falls Darkness Falls by K.C. Luck
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I enjoyed this novel addressing an apocalyptic storyline. When the lights go out the women take initiative. Alice plays a great stabilizing force of nature and the voice of reason. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. The author did a great job of setting up the ending to jump into the next book.

Review: Beowulf for Cretins: A Love Story

Beowulf for Cretins: A Love Story Beowulf for Cretins: A Love Story by Ann McMan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Excellent book by Ann McMan. I loved the interplay between the characters. These two intellectuals at times lost in translation. The academic verbiage was a delight. The secondary characters made their mark - CK and Dean...who knew. Highly recommend.

Review: Leaving Bree

Leaving Bree Leaving Bree by Claire Highton-Stevenson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Great book by a new author to me. I will be reading more from this author. Although this was a novella, I look forward to full-length features! Great characters, especially the mothers. I loved Brees assertiveness.
